Bar Study Skills Crash Course

This five-week course is designed to equip students with the essential learning skills and strategies needed to prepare effectively for and pass the bar exam. By strengthening these foundations before the intensive preparation period begins, students enter bar prep with greater confidence, clarity, and readiness for success. The course also bridges the gap between law school—where students focus on theory, analysis, and case method—and the bar exam, which requires rapid recall of black-letter law and formulaic application under timed conditions. In doing so, it provides the tools students need to transition smoothly into the demands of bar study.

Throughout the course, students will learn:
(1) How to develop a big-picture framework for each bar-tested subject.
(2) How to take effective notes during lectures to fill in and refine their frameworks.
(3) How to use practice questions to identify voids and gaps in their knowledge and understanding.
(4) How to fill in those gaps strategically to strengthen both comprehension and application.

The course consists of 90-minute classes held twice a week in small sections of 7 to 10 students, promoting interaction and a supportive learning environment. Between classes, students will complete homework assignments that are graded by the instructor. Students should plan to commit three hours of class time each week, along with 10 to 15 hours of studying and homework. This consistent effort leads to meaningful progress and measurable growth in the skills that matter most for bar exam success. Once students demonstrate mastery of the learning cycle, they will be placed on an early start learning plan, giving them a valuable head start on bar exam preparation.

For February bar takers, the course runs from mid-October to late November; for July bar takers, from mid-March to late April. To ensure students fully benefit from the program, all participants are required to sign a commitment agreement, affirming their dedication to attending all classes and completing all assignments.

Essay Writing Clinic

This course is designed to help students develop and strengthen the analytical and writing skills necessary to succeed on the bar exam and in the practice of law. Students will learn how to outline and write essays that are clear, concise, and well-reasoned.

Key skills taught include:
(1) Identifying and articulating legal issues in dispute.
(2) Applying relevant facts to the appropriate rules of law to reach logical conclusions.

Students enrolled in this course will:
(1) Participate in an eight-hour interactive writing workshop
(2) Write and receive personalized, constructive feedback on two essays
(3) Attend two one-hour private tutoring sessions focused on improving analytical and writing skills

Bar Prep 101 Plus

Our Bar Prep 101 Plus program is designed specifically for repeat takers who need structure, strategy, accountability, and personalized feedback to succeed on the bar exam. With small group tutoring, hands-on writing instruction, and live performance feedback, this program bridges the gap between knowing the law and understanding it well enough to perform under exam conditions.Every student receives the full suite of resources below, ensuring the confidence, skills, and strategies needed to conquer the bar exam.

(1) Program Features Personalized Learning Plan – A tailored day-by-day plan to help you master both the law and the skills tested on the bar exam.
(2) Substantive Lectures – Bar-tested subjects explained in a clear, straightforward way to reinforce comprehension.
(3) Small Group Tutoring (21 sessions) – Weekly focused sessions with 5–7 students, led by a tutor, diving deep into heavily tested subtopics (e.g., Individual Rights in Constitutional Law; Jurisdiction and Venue in Civil Procedure and Mortgages in Property).
(4) Writing Clinics – Hands-on instruction for writing high scoring essays and MPTs (UBE only). Interactive exercises to sharpen writing and build confidence.
(5) Weekly Timed Writing Assessments with Live Reviews – Practice timed essays weekly, followed immediately by a live tutor review to improve speed, organization, and clarity.
(6) Graded Writing Assessments – Personalized, detailed feedback on seven essays and three MPTs (UBE only).
(7) Weekly IREAC Exercises – Practice identifying issues, reasoning through rules, and writing concise analysis to strengthen MBE and essay performance.

(9) Essay Boot Camp – In the two weeks before the exam, students complete timed essays each weekday morning, followed by a live tutor review.

This interactive course is designed to strengthen performance on the Multistate Performance Test (MPT) component of the Uniform Bar Exam.
